Everyday Art - September - Dunfermline

Here's a flyer for my first ever solo art exhibition:

All works will be for sale.

Private viewing is on Thur 31st Aug, 7pm. Link here. All welcome. Tell your pals.

Here's me talking to Ian Moir at FSC podcast about art, music and ignoring whinging demons...

Here's a new Teenage Fanclub song:

Some early press reaction to the new album:

“Teenage Fanclub have shrewdly stuck with tweaking their winning formula: strummy guitar-led songs, high in melodic content, charting their emotional weather. The years have proven that the deceptive simplicity of their music only increases it’s potency, working hand-in-hand with their long commitment to the healing powers of brotherhood and melody.” MOJO – 4 stars ****

“Timeless pop classicism... The follow-up to ‘Endless Arcade’ is even more impressive, the five-piece creating an organic song cycle largely concerned with the roll of time, hope’s eternal promise and an unerring sense of where their natural strengths lie. Norman Blake’s ‘Foreign Land’ already feels like a latter-day Fannies classic, while Raymond McGinley excels on the gorgeous ballad ‘I Will Love You.” Uncut – 8/10

(I'll add that Raymond's "I Will Love You" is a cracker...)

"Mission To India" remains a great story well told.

Jarvis was good on This Cultural Life, as was Shirley Collins on Desert Island Discs.

Watched The Producers again. Gosh, it's good.

I'm giving this a go (so far it's great):

And here comes some art...

Nothing Doing

Fanclub shenanigans ahoy! Watch this space.

I liked the Banksy: Cut and Run Exhibition lot. I also liked The Banksy Story on BBC Sounds a lot.

A while ago I was invited to discuss a painting of my choosing from collection of National Galleries Of Scotland with curator Dr. Freya Spoor. But what to pick?!?

Here is our chat:

I like this sketch of Robert Penn Warren by the wonderfully named Zubel Kachadoorian.

Made me want to try and draw Robert Penn Warren:

...and Zubel Kachadoorian:

I got a visit to The Burrell t'other day. I liked it.

Nearly finished Season 4 of Succession. I don't quite want it to end.

TV that makes you greet? I'll go first. Bernie Clifton's Dressing Room.

Here's a song I've loved ever since I saw Dan Penn sing it live and solo acoustic in Glasgow many moons ago...

I thought Tracey Emin on This Cultural Life was a fascinating listen; "Art is my friend".

Speaking of art  (voice at the back: "Oh god, no!")...
