Gothenburg - Oslo - Copenhagen - Hamburg - Berlin - Dusseldorf - Munich

Gothenburg: pretty city.

Nice hotel room view.

Drew Rick Stein.

Visited the splendid Gothenburg Museum Of Art. Very posh restaurant but only serving sandwiches and coffee at that time.

There was a temporary exhibition by photographer Duane Michals - all about capturing celebrities in amusing/unique ways...

Soundcheck - tick. Swedish meatballs - tick. Fun gig - tick.

Once in while Norman will introduce "I Don't Want control Of You" as written for his daughter. Makes for slightly emotionally charged backing vocals when I'm a wee bit homesick. But hey I'm a professional.

En route to Oslo I drew Herzog, Sibelius (no it wasn't Harry Secombe or a Sontaran from Dr Who), Von Sydow - and I copied an Edvard Munch self-portrait.

I met my pal Peter and we took in the new purpose-built Munch museum before soundcheck. It was a scream (shut it). Munch looks too depressed to paint in some of his self-portraits.

Strolled past the opera house.

Had a go at drawing  Klaus Voorman, Klaus Kinski, Santa Klaus, Frances De La Tour and Leonard Rossiter.

Euros was match-fit and able to rejoin us onstage (hurrah). Thanks for a fun show, Oslo.

On to Wonderful Copenhagen, Salty Old Queen Of The Sea. Beautiful city.

Fun show. Our last with the excellent Frokedal. Lovely folk.

Jane Weaver + band will open for the rest of this tour.

Drew Hans Christian Anderson.

Departed for Hamburg. Fish and chips on the ferry.

Drew Me and Buster Keaton...

Me

Buster Keaton

Went here.

Drank this.

Ate schnitzel here...

Appalling draw of Elisabeth Moss - tick.

Had a go at a self-portrait of Cezanne...

Hamburg breakfast al fresco...

Clearly dreadful.

Onwards to revisit the great Kunsthalle...

This amused: Christ, from behind, clambering out of tomb to skedaddle from sleeping guards.

If you find yourself here...

...I recommend this...

If you are lucky the waitress might tell you about the time she was serving in a Reeperbahn bar and she turned down guest Midnight Oil tickets from the band. Apparently her pal the next day was furious.

Another poor attempt at Elisabeth Moss - tick.

Peter Bowles, Keanu Reeves, Gordon Jackson, another self-portrait and three blinkin' attempts at Fred Harris.

To Berlin.

Berlin set list

Berlin soundcheck

Berlin venue

I sketched Mackenzie Crook (I'm a big fan of The Detectorists - MC & Toby Jones = great)...

Dusseldorf gig particularly fun. Lots of love for the Endless Arcade album.

Statue of Pushkin near the hotel, a gift from the city of Moscow:

Travel day from Dusseldorf to Nuremberg. Visited the Kunst Palast for an electro exhibition that included a fun, drily humorous 3D Kraftwerk installation.

There was also a collection of works by (and relevant to) Max Liebermann...

Max looking at bit Rembrandt-y in this self-portrait if you ask me.

Detoured past Kraftwerk's old Kling Klang HQ on the way out of town.

Drove on to Nuremberg listening to "We Are The Robots".

Drew Melvyn Bragg, Albert Brooks and a self-portrait.

Stopped for (large) schnitzel experience.

Arrived groaning in to Nuremberg.

Tasted local pilsener, marinated asparagus and splendid local sausages (not all in the one smoothie)

If you're ever in town we can recommend this place...

Next morning visited the Neues Museum.

En route to Munich I drew Richard Whitely, Brian Glover and Jimmy Nail.

Soundcheck - tick.

Food in a Georgian restaurant: egg plant + walnut thingy; creamy garlic chicken with Georgian spices; honey cake.

I've been sound checking my vocals with a chorus of "Save Your Love" by Reneé & Renato - but they boys aren't biting.

Gig should be up to the usual standard...

Tschüss!
