Modern Life Spoils So Much That Is Pleasant

Well done, The New Yorker:

Picked this up:
Seems fun:

This is great - snappier than Chandler.

I can see me reading more of the Parker novels...

I enjoyed chatting about 3 x tracks I would recommend to anyone for the Listen Up podcast: Ben Vaughn Combo, Paul Bryan & Morricone.  Here is the Spotify link - or here it is on Mixcloud

I am writing music for a couple of TV documentaries.

Sometimes I send pictures of my drawings to their subjects (via managers/agents). I sent this to Michael Palin:

Reply: "Michael has seen your drawing and asked me to pass on his thanks - it made him smile!"

And I'm reliably informed that John Byrne was "very tickled" by this:

*Here's an article*  about an exhibition in aid of the National Brain Appeal featuring some of my drawings (of Elvis) alongside all other kinds of folks. 27-30 July at the Fitzrovia Gallery

And here are some more sketches...

See ya. Wouldn't wanna be ya.... *vroom*

"Don't Think You're Coming Under My Umbrella"

If you've never read "With Nails: The Film Diaries Of Richard E. Grant" (which I hadn't until recently), try the 11th October entry in the Hudson Hawk section. That's all I'm saying.

Loved this...

Exhibit A:

Wee reminder: on Tuesday 21st June 7pm-9pm I am doing a thing on Composing For Media for New Music Scotland. If you know anyone who would be interested - maybe tell them. *Here's the link*

And another reminder that I am gladly a part of this:

I keep drawing because it's fun. I share the drawings on-line because some people like them. That gives me a boost and so...it's a vicious cycle. In no particular order, you might try and find:

Frank Carson, Martin Clunes, Robert Hardy, Terry Scott, Bob Dylan, Kevin Eldon, Keith Chegwin, Kenny 'Camera Obscura' McKeeve, Me (three times)Susan Calman,   Margaret Rutherford (twice), Bert Lahr, Wallace Shawn, Michael Bond, Philip Larkin, Neil Innes, John Betjeman,  Danny Aiello, Terry Gilliam, Sylvester McCoy, David Bellamy, Charles Rennie Mackintosh, Jeremy Hardy, Mike Nesmith, Stephen Sondheim and David Niven.

Until next time...
